PhD in Biological Sciences from Barcelona University (1980). Tenured scientist at the IPE-CSIC since 1987. My research is focused on the ecology of ungulates and other mountain vertebrates as marmots and ptarmigans. I am specifically interested on plant-animal interactions and large herbivore ecology in alpine environments (population structure, space use, activity rhythms, feeding behaviour, and pasture utilization). I have been working also on applied aspects of these topics as: resource partitioning between wild and domestic herbivores, stocking rate and carrying capacity of large herbivores on mountain habitats, eco-pastoral valuation of alpine grasslands and big game management. Currently working on eco-morphology of mountain ungulates (chamois, ibex, wild boar), studying the variability of certain anatomical characters (size, shape and skeletal growth) and its relationship with environmental variables. In addition, I perform comparative studies between current and fossil populations to investigate systematic problems of some species such as Capra pyrenaica.
