Development of cementitious material intrinsically sensor for structural evaluation based on ferromagnetic microwires (SENCEMHIL)

The motivation of the project is to provide more efficient and effective systems and procedures for the structural control of civil engineering infrastructures. The paradigm of converting structural concrete in a smart material capable of self-diagnose or to allow a rapid and reliable diagnosis, is the science and technology base that supports this coordinated project.

The mean objectives are:

  • Design, development and prediction of service life of new cement-based smart materials with intrinsically sensing capability, which enable the in-situ inspection and the wireless monitoring of the stress state of concrete structures.
  •  Development of micro/nanomaterials with piezoresisitive and magnetoresistive properties that can be easily integrated /incorporated in concrete to develop the intrinsically cementitious composite sensor.
